A limited check-up shall be carried out by mariners in accordance with the enlistment law or the Ship Safety Regulation working on internal seafaring/fishermen. The check-up includes an eye examination and hearing examination.
According to the enlistment lawt (1983:929) or the Ship Safety Regulation (2003:438), a limited check-up must be carried out to mariners who work on internal seafaring/fishermen, such as:
- Seafaring within Sweden and off the coasts, but not more than one nautical mile (1852 metres) from a port or other place where the ship can find shelter.
- Seafaring in Kalmar strait and national sefaring in Öresund.
- Seafaring in area D, as defined in the Ship Safety Regulation (2003:438).
How it works
- Time booked
Once you have ordered the service, your employee will be booked into a health check-up. The time is communicated in an email to your employee and to you as the orderer. - The check-up
During the visit, the employee get to perform an eye examination and hearing examination. If you are looking for a health declaration and general examination, it is a full investigation you should do. - Manila certificate and serviceability assessment
Manila certificate and serviceability assessment are submitted to the employee. The serviceability assessment is based on if the occupational health physician finds that the mariner meets the requirements of visual and hearing skills that apply to the intended service.
Position on board
For the check-up, the employee must inform about his/hers position on board.
- Group 1: Deck – Commander, coxswain, helmsman, lookout, member of the security crew and belonging to the deck compartment.
- Group 2a: Deck – Other staff in the deck compartment not included in Group 1.
- Group 2b: Machine, machine personnel.
- Group 3: Superintendent/other staff.
- Group 4: Radio telephone staff, radio staff responsible for GMDSS.
